Commercial pilots being trained for worst-case ‘black swan’ scenarios
Airplane accidents such as the jet that ditched in New York’s Hudson River in 2009 are prompting
airlines to train pilots for extreme and unexpected worst-case scenarios — termed “black swan
events” by the industry.
Egypt partners with Nigeria on aviation safety, operations
Nigeria has entered into strategic partnership with Egyptian aviation authorities on air safety and
operations, presidential adviser on aviation, Captain Shehu Iyal has said.
Airlines fear backlash over crowded World Cup airports
International airlines are worried the Brazilian government may hit them with a flurry of fines
during the World Cup over delayed flights and lost bags at already overcrowded airports, IATA

The European Commission on Thursday adopted new guidelines for limiting state aid to regional
airports and airlines, a move the EC claims will reduce competitive distortion by discouraging
overcapacity at small, unprofitable facilities.

Airbus and Comac have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on initiatives
aimed at sustainably growing the air transport industry.
Emirates signs agreement with Ecuadorian government
Emirates is expanding its operations into South America following the signing of a cargo and
passenger agreement with Ecuadorian national airline TAME.
